Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Icarus Universe LLC (“Icarus Universe,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) governing your download and use of the Free Brain application and related services (the “App”). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. The App
Free Brain is an individual self-management and productivity tool. It uses Apple's Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity frameworks to apply Screen Time shields to the apps, app categories, and websites you select on your own device. Free Brain is not a parental-control, employee-monitoring, or device-management product, and it cannot monitor or control another person's device.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) and able to form a binding contract to use the App. If you use the App on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms for it.
3. License
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service and Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA), which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Where these Terms and Apple's standard EULA conflict, the terms more protective of your rights as a consumer control for that subject. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App except as permitted by law.
4. Free Brain Pro, subscriptions, and purchases
Free Brain offers optional paid access (“Free Brain Pro”) through auto-renewable subscriptions (weekly, monthly, and annual) and a one-time non-consumable “Lifetime” purchase. All purchases are processed by Apple through your Apple Account. Current prices, billing periods, and any available free trials are displayed on the in-app purchase screen before you confirm, and localized prices may vary by region.
- Auto-renewal. Auto-renewable subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Free trials. If an introductory free trial is offered and you are eligible, any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where applicable. Trial eligibility is determined by Apple.
- Managing and canceling. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings (Settings › your name › Subscriptions). Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
- Lifetime purchase. The Lifetime purchase is a one-time, non-consumable purchase that unlocks Free Brain Pro for the purchasing Apple Account and does not renew. It can be restored on another device signed in to the same Apple Account using “Restore Purchases.”
- Refunds. Purchases are handled by Apple and are subject to Apple's refund policies. We do not process payments and generally cannot issue refunds directly; refund requests are made to Apple.
5. Screen Time and how the App works
Free Brain applies friction, not a guarantee. The App relies on Apple's Screen Time frameworks and on authorization that you grant; it may not block every app, category, or website, and system limitations, updates, or your own changes to authorization or settings may affect its behavior. Emergency unlocks are intentionally limited. You are responsible for how you configure and use the App, and for your own decisions about what to block or unlock.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the App to violate any law; to attempt to manage, monitor, or restrict another person's device without authorization; to interfere with or disrupt the App or Apple's services; or to circumvent, disable, or defeat security or entitlement controls. We may suspend or terminate access for conduct that violates these Terms.
7. Intellectual property
The App, including its software, design, text, and trademarks, is owned by Icarus Universe LLC or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. Except for the license granted above, no rights are transferred to you.
8. Not medical or professional advice
Free Brain is a general-audience productivity utility. It does not provide medical, psychological, or other professional advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a substitute for professional care. If you have concerns about compulsive device use or your health, consult a qualified professional.
9. Disclaimers
THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT IT WILL BLOCK ALL SELECTED CONTENT. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES, SO SOME OF THESE EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ICARUS UNIVERSE LLC AND ITS LICENSORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APP. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE APP WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE LIMITED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Icarus Universe LLC from claims, damages, and expenses arising from your misuse of the App or violation of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.
12. Changes to the App and Terms
We may update the App and these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes to these Terms, we will update the effective date and make the revised Terms available. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
13. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it. We may suspend or terminate the license if you materially breach these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) will survive.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, except where your local consumer-protection laws provide otherwise. Any dispute not subject to Apple's terms will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
15. Apple
These Terms are between you and Icarus Universe LLC only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. In the event of any failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App. Your use of the App must also comply with the App Store Terms of Service and Apple's standard EULA referenced above.
